645 PRO Mk III has been designed, from the ground up, for professional and serious amateur photographers. So it works the way a camera works—and it’s the most powerful camera app we’ve ever seen!

You have instant access to everything that can be controlled on an iOS camera.

That means fully manual exposure control, as well as semi-automatic Shutter Priority and ISO Priority, together with fully automatic exposure with a choice of spot or matrix metering. Automatic and semi-automatic modes also include ±3 Ev. exposure compensation, while the on-screen meter lets you judge your manual exposures to perfection.

It means the choice of AWB or a selection of white balance presets—and even the ability to create and save a completely custom white balance.

And it means manual focus override—just swipe your finger up and down the viewfinder to control the lens position. And you even get focus-peaking to help you identify what will be in perfect focus!

And you have all the information you need, all the time, including real-time exposure metering, real-time ISO and shutter-speed readings, Ev, real-time GPS data and a choice of histograms. And many aspects of the interface can be customized, so you can—for example—configure the Shutter Release button to behave the way you want.

645 PRO Mk III—TOP-QUALITY OUTPUT

645 PRO Mk III combines the ultimate in lifelike "film look" output with the ability to save completely unprocessed image data at the highest quality possible—as Camera RAW.

Its gorgeous Film Modes are inspired by classic film stock as used by top photographers from the 1960s through to the present day—and if you want to edit them, and save custom, personalized films, you can. Meanwhile its unprocessed images are just that—ready for later post-processing or to be used "as is" for reportage.

Whether you shoot Film Mode, unprocessed or both, you have the choice to save in HI-Quality JPEG, MAX-Quality JPEG, or—for top image fidelity—TIFF.

And you have the option to shoot in one of seven formats, from square 6x6 to panoramic 6x17, all inspired by classic Medium Format cameras. Also inspired by film, you can add one of 21 Photo Filters, all with fully-adjustable densities.

Youll get photographs from your iPhone like you never imagined!

Drawing its inspiration from the obsession with quality embodied by top-end Medium Format film and digital cameras, 645 PRO Mk III exists purely to help you use your iPhone as a tool for composing, taking, saving and sharing the finest possible photographs.

Pros and cons of 645 PRO Mk III app for iPhone and iPad

645 PRO Mk III app good for

Hands down the best. If you like using your phone for photography, this is it. No other app gives you this level of control over your pictures.
645PRO is my go-to app for the images that I will be running through a professional workflow using Photoshop on my desktop computer. And to be honest, it has been since this app first came out. As a matter of fact, I even wrote a published article about it that Michael Hardaker will remember, because the images from 645 PRO were so superior to the JPG’s that came out of the camera app in the iPhone. I am a professional photographer that has been shooting since 1975. I have done almost all the specialties in photography but currently specialize in fine art landscapes. Anyone who has done serious landscapes knows that image details matter. I am not going to tell anyone that our phone cameras can replace a high-end DSLR. Based on the current state of technology (as of 6/2016), they cannot. But I will tell you that the best camera is the one you have with you, and many times, that ends up being my iPhone 6 Plus. So I am always into maximizing image quality based on what I am able to produce in the moment. 645 PRO allows me to do that. When I see a shot that catches my eye and my iPhone is all I have with me, I use this app in bracket mode set to -2EV-0EV - +2EV. By having 645 PRO do three bracketed images with each single press of the shutter button, I get 3 images that give me the exposure options I need to produce professionally blended images that look like what the eye sees. I also configure the Settings to deliver TIFF’s as the output format so I can do non-destructive editing. For iphoneographers (or ipadographers), more apps are now showing up in the App Store that offer advanced editing options involving layers and image blending. Finally, I have seen the numerous comments over time about this app not functioning properly. All I can say to that is I keep my phone updated and I do not abuse it. To date, I have never run into any problem with this app other than a slight processor heating tendency which was corrected long ago in one of the earlier updates. BOTTOM LINE —> If you are a photographer that appreciates a camera working with you rather than against you, this is your app. If you are a snap-shooter who does not know the difference in JPG and TIFF format, or what manual vs automatic means, this app offers a complexity of options that may present a steep learning curve. But if you want to learn photography vs snapshots, then this might be for you too.
Update: 3 years later still my go to camera app, more fun than ever on the 6s+ Congratulations on a well designed and continuously developed app. Now its up to Apple to make ever better camera hardware. Focus peaking works fine even on older phones (4S)
This app is perfect except Id like the ability to use my volume button as the shutter button just like the iOS camera app does. Especially adding support for the EarPods volume buttons so I can get a steady shot on my tripod without having to use the timer delay.
I had many issues with earlier versions, but with a new version, a new 5s phone, and iOS 8, its great, nearly everything I want in a camera app. I have about a dozen different camera apps, each because they have features I could only find in each specific app. With this latest release it looks like I can delete three-fourths of those. If this adds panorama, HDR, repeating interval timer, and a couple other features, it will be the only app I need. It has a beautiful interface, well thought out controls, packed with features that compete with expensive SLRs, its great as-is and regularly getting better!
Updated 8-18-2016 I love this app. I still would love to see to feature requests. 1) A quick button on the main screen to access the white balance setting 2) I would like another quick launch button to access the focus bias option. This to items I use all the time so much that this update would really make my life easier. 3) I really need a Structure and Sharpening Mask. The iPhone 6s Plus is to soft for me and make my pics look out of Focus. I would love to be able to set a certain sharpening Mask that can be used for all pics. Like setting a filter this is used for all pics. 4) I would love to be able to hold down the shutter button to obtain the 10 Fps shooting mode of my iPhone 6s Plus. The above features would really make this app even better.

Some bad moments

I made two pictures, one with the build-in camera and one with 645 PRO app. The file size for the pics: iPhone = 3MB and JPG, 645PRO = 24MB and TIFF. Unfortunately there is no visible difference between both pictures. It has been tested in Photoshop CS6 at 100%. So, it doesnt make sense to use this app.
After a few attempts, the quality of the shots is really poor. The iPhone camera app gets me much better results.
Ok loved this app, but, it now crashes no matter what you do, so unfortunately I give it 1 star till its fixed dont waste your money folks. At least till the developer gets it fixed.
This app use to work great. Now it crashes all the time. It is totally unusable now. Are there plans to fix it or is this now a dead application.
I enjoy using this app and use it more than any other camera app. However its time for an update to get the most out of iOS 10 and the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Until then; 2 stars.
Can only take one picture ! Then bug and need to kill/restart app !!!
